David Boyles: Monophonic

David Boyles: Bedroom Demos

"Southern-Fried Soul” is the way North Carolina native David Boyles likes to describe his sound.

“My music is a connection to the experiences that I’ve had with people and places, which move me at my core.”  David’s musical interest began early – “I started singing and playing guitar, bass, and drums in high school, and went on to get a degree in jazz bass at Western Carolina University.”

After relocating to Venice CA, his first cd “Bedroom Demos” was written, performed, and recorded entirely by Boyles in his bedroom on a 2 track M Box.  The cd was picked up by DIAA/Domo records in 2005 and got the attention of Columbia Music Entertainment in Japan.

In 2005 CME signed David and released the cd “Thank You” which, combined with the “Bedroom Demos” import, yielded a #1 record at Tower and HMV stores throughout the country.  The record also produced four top ten singles to radio, with two tracks “Sunshine” and “Thank You” reaching the number one position.  “Southern Fried,” David’s latest offering for CME, was released in September 2006 with “Home to Stay” debuting at number 21 to radio.

Currently, David lives in Los Angeles where he is continuously refining his craft by writing, recording, and performing.  David is currently finishing up a number of new projects including a new album entitled "Monophonic", collaborations with Brodeeva (noted for their work with G Love and Special Sauce), including writing the G Love hit "Kick Drum", and a new live acoustic record.

Recent placements for David’s music include penning the title theme for MTV’s “Becoming”, and “Good Thing” on NBC’s “Scrubs”.

David has shared the stage with the John Butler Trio, Tim Reynolds, North Mississippi All-Stars, G Love and Special Sauce, String Cheese Incident, Sound Tribe Sector Nine, Flogging Molley, Coolio, Jamie Foxx, Usher, Bryan McNight, Cameo, Al Jarreau, Tommy Davidson, Floetry, The Temptations, Michael McDonald, among others.
